PMD Microdermabrasion - At Home Microdermabrasion? Does it Work?

So if you've been here a while reading my posts, you'll know that I'm a real sucker for skin care. I'm constantly on the hunt for new products, tools and methods that will improve my skins condition and keep it clear and healthy.

So when an email popped up in my inbox from PMD UK, I couldn't wait to try something new in the bid for a flawless complexion.

Microdermabrasion usually performed at a skin clinic for a hefty price tag, buffs away dead and dull skin cells, revealing healthier skin with a youthful glow and smooth surface. PMD UK have made a tool that brings this experience to the comfort of your own home, quick and easy, but does it work?

Each PMD comes with the machine itself and a selection of Aluminium Oxide infused discs, each one made for a different skin type and in two different sizes for face and body use. Within the box is a DVD which explains how to use the device properly. PMD go above and beyond to ensure you understand the process before diving straight in, as you can seriously damage and mark your skin if not careful.  I personally love how thorough the instructions are as the skin on our face is something we need to look after an treat with care.

No matter the skin type, PMD advise that you start with the white disc (the training disc) designed for ultra sensitive skin. If the device is not used correctly in can mark the skin, so making sure you start with the training disc means that you can get to grips with how to use it, without any consequences.

Holding the skin taught, you simply sweep across the skin in an outwards direction, making sure to only do each section once.

The machine spins the disc which exfoliates away dead skin, thus stimulating new cell growth and increasing circulation.

I can't lie I expected immediate results, which as a beauty blogger, I should know better. The training disc was far too gentle for my tough, oily skin, but as advised I built up the coarseness with each use. By the fourth week (the device is only to be used once a week) I had reached the green disc, designed for non-sensitive skin and this felt a lot better.

After use I always reach for a hydrating mask, followed by a heavier moisturiser than normal to soothe any redness. The exfoliation process improves the skins ability to absorb products, so straight after use is the best time to get out your expensive creams and serums.

I have been so impressed by the results of the PMD, after around 4-5 weeks use, my skin is clearer, brighter and rid of any rough patches and clogged pores.

It has transformed my skins texture and help to reduce oil production which I hadn't anticipated. My make-up has a better base to work with, meaning it applies smoother and lasts longer, a benefit I hadn't even thought about.

The PMD Device is a skin care step I look forward to every week now and something that will stick around for the foreseeable future.

Is the PMD something you'd like to try?

Could You Ditch Your Conditioner? A New Way To Wash Your Hair

Being a self confessed hair care obsessive, who cannot go a week without at least 3 hair masks, giving up my normal shampoo and conditioner and replacing it with just one product was a scary thought.

But I also love to try new things that promise to encourage a healthy hair and scalp, so when the opportunity to try out the new 'New Wash' from Hairstory arose, I couldn't turn it down. New Wash is designed to protect the hairs natural moisture barrier, which regular shampoos compromise and is packed with aloe and essential oils, which cleanse and condition the hair. Leaving no need for either shampoo or conditioner. Hair Story goes as far as to claim that conditioner does nothing but mask the damage caused by shampoo. Big statements right? New Wash is also suitable for all hair types, including colour treated mops (like mine).

So the big question is, does it work?

Surprisingly... it really does. With Jojoba and Peppermint it's fragrance is fresh and natural and its consistency, just like a conditioner.

You simply take the shower bottle in hand, and massage it from root to tip just like you would with your conditioner, rinse and repeat and your done.

I was extremely skeptical and expected flat, greasy locks after my first use. However just like hair story say, my hair was soft, shiny, frizz free and felt full of life. Seriously impressive! It boasts some great ingredients and I love the simplistic packaging, but most of all it saves time and money and does a better job then two products combined.

After around fifteen washes of using nothing but the New Wash, my hair and scalp is in great condition, both comfortable and manageable. I've now taken to using this once or twice a week, and switching back to my normal shampoo and conditioner routine to keep it fresh.

I highly recommend that you give this product a go for a month and see what you think!

The Ordinary - The Skincare That Saved My Face

You'd think after 23 years that my skin would be used to the changing seasons.

Nope at nearly 23, my skin still throws a wobbler when the weather gets a degree warmer. Which has proven a problem when you live somewhere like Manchester, where in spring, one day you're de-icing your car, the next you dusting off the old denim shorts.

This means that from around April time, my skin needs a lot of attention to keep it clear and happy.

Being a beauty blogger, I have tried everything. The one thing i've actually learn't about my skin is that less is more and a simple routine seems to be the winning ticket. So, I ditched all of my fancy creams and lotions in favour of a four step scenario, cleanse, tone, serum, spot treatment (when needed).

Over the past month my skin has come on leaps and bounds, mostly due to the two new additions to my routine. That and making a conscious effort to stop picking, touching and putting anything and everything onto my face. Today I wanted to introduce you to my new favourites.

You'll have no doubt seen these simplistic scientific looking bottles all over your instagram feed and the hype is for a good reason.  I'll admit I didn't even bother to browse at first, because usually a big fuss comes with a big price tag or a big shipping fee, but these little beauties have neither.

The Ordinary is a purse friendly brand, specialising in topical acid treatments for the skin. With oily skin like mine, this kinda stuff is right up my street. I went straight for the Niacinamide High Strength Vitamin and Mineral Blemish Formula.  With Niacinamide (Vit B3) and Zinc this bottle of goodness helps to reduce the appearance of blemishes and helps to regulate sebum production, thus combating future breakouts from appearing. This has helped to clear up old and stubborn blemishes that have been sitting on my skin for a while now. I apply this morning and night and I am obsessed with it. It's lightweight and sinks straight into the skin and has really helped to renew my skins glow.

This next is not for the faint hearted or sensitive skinned.

So much so, The Ordinary actually warn people away from using it on their website (odd since they sell it huh?). I however have skin built to take on the acids, so I went for it anyway.

Salicylic Acid is known for its blemish fighting properties, tackling new spots before they even get the chance to surface and taking care of the ever challenging congested pore. It penetrates deep to exfoliate the inside walls of pores and the skins surface for bright and clear skin.

This is my favourite of the two and cleared up sore and red spots in a matter of days. It should be used with caution and a light hand applied directly to spots and not all over the face and sun cream must be applied every day when using it.

Have you tried anything from The Ordinary?

3 Things I Try To Always Remember

Oh 2017 you've already both tested and pleased me in many ways, but i'll give it to myself, even with the punches each year keeps delivering, I seem to be getting by and somehow getting more grateful with each blow.

I've always been tough and I pride myself on that, because I stand by the fact that what does not kill me will only make me stronger.

There is something to be learnt from each challenge life throws our way, an advantage gained for the next time a similar scenario pops up, a scenario you're now equipped to deal with and won't be beaten down with again.

I try to remember three important things that always keep me going, the first is to see the good in everything.

Instead of dwelling on the negative things that may be occurring, I try to remember what it is that I am so grateful for. There are certain things in life that we cannot control, so I don't try to. What I do instead is focus on the good, distract my mind from the bad temporarily. Good family, friends and most importantly good health. Most situations have a silver lining, focus on what outcome you want.

There is only one you. And that will never change. I find it has become increasingly difficult to not compare yourself to the likes of the seemingly perfect instagram famous club. But behind the filters are normal people who have their hangups and insecurities, just like the rest of us. It's so important that although I have things I don't like and people i'd sometimes much rather be, there will only ever be one me. Own it and be unique.

The last is one that I only recently started to apply to my life. It's taken me nearly 23 years to stop being a people pleaser.

It's a hard habit to break and I think I got too wrapped up in feeling like I needed people to like me, to approve, when in reality it's only those people close to me who's opinion's matter. I'm always polite and kind but in terms of going out of my way to please people who wouldn't do it for me, I no longer do it. Make effort for yourself and for those people who are worth it.

Recent Beauty Favourites

As the weather gets warmer, my skin and everyday make-up routine becomes incredibly simple.

Just the way I like it.

I like my skin to be soft, clear and full of health and these four products help me to achieve that. Each compliment each other to create the perfect look for spring that takes five minutes.

First up is the Avene Cleanance Cleansing Gel

There is always a lot of great things to be said about the Avene Cleanance range when it comes to blemish prone skin, but for some strange reason I never got round to trying any of the range until now. This cleansing gel helps to purify the skin and regulate oil production meaning it's a great addition to your summer time skin routine. I love that this is not drying like a lot of products that are aimed at blemish prone skin, its gentle but still gets the job done like any other that i've tried. I use this both morning and night, adding gentle exfoliation with my Magnitone Face Brush in the evenings.

Next I take the L'Oreal Fine Flowers Toner

I find that products containing rose extract work really well on my skin and help to add back any moisture lost during cleansing, speeding up the healing process and banishing any dark marks left by old blemishes. This toner has both Rose and Jasmine extracts which leaves the skin soft, comfortable and throughly clean.

Every other day I reach for the St Tropez Facial Oil

This for me, eliminates the need for a heavy foundation base and creates a subtle and healthy sunkissed glow. What I love most about this product is that unlike standard body tanners, this will not block your pores and is lightweight and non greasy, leaving no sticky residue on the skin. Every other day is enough for this product and can be applied using your hands, given you wash them thoroughly after.

Last but not least, I tackle those tired eyes with the Soap and Glory Fake Awake Dark Circles Concealer.

This handy chubby stick product is so easy to apply and blends easily under the eyes concealing any signs of fatigue in seconds. It contains green tea extract to plump and hydrate the skin and the yellow undertone provides great coverage for any darkness. I take this everywhere with me and absolutely love it for making me feel and look awake.

Have you tried any of these products?

Love Me Beauty Bag - April Edit

April rolled around quickly this year and with it, the Love Me Beauty April Edit all packaged in the cutest spring bag (if you missed March catch up here!).

If you're all caught up and know everything about this beauty subscription service (which you can join here) then lets get straight in to what I unwrapped this month.

Eco Tools featured heavily in this months selection, which I was super happy about because you never have too many make-up brushes right?

First up was the Full Powder Brush which is so incredibly lovely I couldn't put it down for a good few minutes, you know the kind of softness you have to make everyone try on their face too because it's too darn good to miss out on!? That kind of lovely. Not only is it soft and sturdy, it's designed to deliver a full coverage powder application and is made with 70,000 bristles!

Next, the duo end eye brushes,  cleverly condensing all of your eyeshadow brush needs in to two brushes, meaning less to carry around! These follow the same theme of being super soft and sturdy and are just great quality brushes in general.

Finally, LMB included some of Eco Tools new Beauty Blender options, angled for the perfect application and in three different styles. I have been obsessed with the medium sized light green option for concealer and the larger blender for all over application. They work just as well as my original beauty blender, just make sure you run them under warm water long enough to saturate the whole sponge to get its full potential.

The Living Proof Prime Style Extender Spray is threatening to make us forget all about dry shampoo.

This cute little spray claims to help you stretch out the time between washes by keeping your hair looking clean for longer. It's designed to repel dirt and oil protecting your style and can be used on all hair types.

Calling all animal lovers, this next one is 100% vegan, natural and amazing!

The Amie Face wash and moisturiser duo are the perfect pair at combating that summer shine the warmer weather brings. Gently cleansing away any impurities and keeping oil at bay they have to be my favourite part of this edit and the only downfall, is that they're so small! I have been particularly keen on the moisturiser which has been keeping my skin matte for a lot longer.

Finally Love Me Beauty included a little pamper day treat in the form of a face mask, the Dr Bragi Intensive Treatment Mask. Packed with Marine Enzymes (I don't know either but they sound fancy right?) it provides instant results, plumper skin, reduced redness all whilst tackling premature signs of ageing, perfect for a hungover Sunday! I found this so refreshing to wear and it left my skin SO soft.

Stop Worrying About Not Having Your Shit Together

At what age can I start referring to myself a woman without cringing and feeling like I'm still too young for that title.

The early twenties are a strange period, too young to feel like an adult, too old that your not a kid anymore. So how are we not supposed to worry about having a mortgage and our dream job.

I'll put it out there first, I don't even have a 'dream' job. Never really have. If anything it hurts my brain to try and think about what it is that i'd really love to do, aside from the jobs like chocolate testing and a personal shopper, which we'd all love to do right?

So at what age does it all click and do we wake up one day thinking, wow i've got my shit together.
What i've realised is that there isn't the right age for anything and there isn't the perfect life, because we're all different and want different things, some people have children at 22, some people are travelling the world and some still feel like they're 18.

No two people are the same, so neither are our journeys.

Putting a time limit on things only puts you under pressure and makes the process miserable. Before you know it 5 years have breezed by in an un productive, depressed state because you've not allowed yourself to actually enjoy each day and take life as it comes.  Now this is not me telling you to simply drift through each day with an 'i'll do it tomorrow attitude', but we also don't need to plan out each move and milestone, it takes the fun out of it all.

My twenties are all about growth.

If I look back at how my confidence and personality has grown since my first office job, to now. I've come on leaps and bounds. Four jobs have taught me what I like and don't like, they've helped me to make some friends for life and develop life skills that maybe I wouldn't have learn't if I'd gone down the university route, which I often kick myself about.

My career experience may not be all that impressive to a stranger, but I feel it's all helped me to progress as a person which is what's important right? I've bought a new car, and moved out and even though it may not be my home yet and my car isn't the one i've always dreamt of owning, it feels pretty great to have independence and enjoy my own space and company after a long day at work and know that i've earnt every bit of it.

We need to celebrate each and every tiny victory, whether that be getting your first ever job, or even something as simple as finally finding something that you feel passionate enough about to want to go out there and work for, this time of our lives, our teens, twenties or even thirties are the first section of our lives, so no more pressure for me, i'll enjoy it thanks!

New In: L'Oreal Micellar Water

I tried one Micellar Water a few years ago when they first became popular and then I kind of left them alone.

Not that I didn't love the one I tried before, it's just that I felt it didn't do anything ground breaking. Fast forward two years and I'm back on the bandwagon and feeling a whole lot more optimistic about the whole Micellar Water thing.

Being back into the full swing of the gym, I tend to do my entire skin care, hair and make-up there, nearly two hours after I initially wake up and roll out of bed. So I felt like I needed something super quick for when I first get up, that would clean away the products use the night before, without leaving any residue on the skin. I find that I break out more when I'm back at the gym, sweat is not my skins best friend and leaves me with blocked pores, if I, a) don't have a clean face to begin with and, b) don't wash my face straight after. So a quick swipe of Micellar Water before I hit the cross trainer is ideal.

I went for this L'Oreal Paris option, because it had no fancy oils or additional products that I just didn't want or need.

Made with purified water is swipes away any left over make-up, serums and impurities that may be sitting on the skins surface leaving it feeling clean and so fresh.

What I love about this particular product is that it is aimed at oily to combination skin and removes excess sebum whilst mattifying the skin leaving it shine free for longer. I can safely say it keeps it's promise and has kept my oily skin somewhat under control.

For a quick and easy morning and evening cleanse, look no further. This product also comes in a version aimed at dry and sensitive skin so it'll work for everyone!

Top Three Drugstore Foundations

I wish this post was sponsored by L'oreal...it's not, they're just the stars of my make-up bag at the minute!

These three cover all bases, the matte, the dewy and the just right.  For us with oily skin types, finding the right foundation that not only looks good when first applied, but stays good is a tricky task. I spend five days of the week completely make-up free, maybe stretching the effort for my eyebrows every other day. My make-up just never seems to last a day at the office and I like to give my skin the chance to breath.

This means that I no longer feel the need to spend copious amounts on foundations, so when my favourite Charlotte Tilbury base ran out, I didn't run to Selfridges to replace it. Instead, i headed to boots in search of a drugstore alternative for a fraction of the price.

A few months later, Nars, Mac and Chanel have taken permanent residence at the bottom of my make-up bag in favour of three L'oreal choices, all of which work so well for my skin type.

I must admit that this isn't new to my collection, but it's one I've recently rekindled my love for.

I don't know who wears make-up for a whole 24 hours, I won't be the one to try it. However if I were to wear make-up to the office, this would be my choice. All the coverage with all the comfort. What I love most about this is how blendable it is considering the matte finish.

This is one of the few foundations that keeps my oily skin at bay, covers all blemishes and redness and mattifies any shine.

Out of the three this has the highest longevity and only after around 5-6 hours does it start to cling to any dry patches (Still no shine!). Which for me, is amazing!

I went for porcelain, as this is my choice for everyday, when I might not have applied fake tan and it has a lovely cool tone that is so natural. I apply with a damp beauty blender and having tried with a make-up brush, a sponge definitely works best for an even, flawless application.

Dewy isn't a quality I look for when foundation shopping because my skin nails that all by itself, especially in the summer.

However this foundation gives my skin a lovely glow and is by far the most natural finish of the three

L'Oreal have an impressive selection of shades in this foundation, meaning you can select the perfect one for you, that kind of your skin but better shade The formula is lightweight and again so comfortable on the skin and even though it may not last as long on my skin type, it has a gorgeous demi-matte finish, that's smooth and radiant. It's so easy to apply using a foundation brush and the coverage is very build-able and takes care of any pesky blemishes with ease! It lasts around 3-4 hours before I need to touch it up.

New to the bunch is this beauty. A relatively recent addition to the L'Oreal stand, Total Cover is the perfect inbetween. The coverage is insane, L'Oreal claim it will even cover tattoos (I have yet to convince Ryan to let me test that theory) and I can safely say it covers any imperfections with one single coat. Much to my surprise it doesn't look or feel thick or tight and stays that way throughout the day.

The texture is not as thick as I anticipated for such a full cover foundation, it again blends easily and the shade I chose is perfect for me, no orange undertones in sight!

It comes just under the Infallible Matte in terms of longevity, but a light dusting of powder after a few hours wear buffs away any shine.

The finish sits perfectly in between True Match and Infallible Matte, natural and healthy looking but completely flawless, I'm in love!

Have you tried any of these foundations yet?

Love Me Beauty Bag Review

I'll never tire of opening up a bag of surprises each month.

I'm going to dive right in this time with a review of each product received this month! Love Me Beauty are a beauty bag subscription service that deliver a few new products to your door at the start of each month, a GREAT way to try before you buy! March's bag was all about revealing a healthy radiance from within! Right up my street.

First up, two from Caudalie.

These two products are really great sizes and will last quite a while so you can really get a feel for the product! The Vine [Activ] range is adapted to every day life, helping to limit the damage from pollution and reveal a healthy glow from within! They sound like the perfect products right? This month I received the 3 in 1 moisturiser and eye cream and I love them both.

They're super moisturising whilst still being lightweight, which is a big deal breaker for me when finding the right daily moisturiser. With a whole host of great ingredients such as Vitamin C and Liquorice to energise and de-congest the skin, they're the perfect pair for the upcoming seasons.

Perricone MD Blue Plasma Cleansing Lotion

This colourful baby caught my eye first as soon as I opened up the bag and coming from a brand I haven't use before, I was so excited to use it! This again helps to reveal radiance and exfoliate dead skin, make-up and any grime from the day. Simply saturate a cotton pad and smooth the lotion over skin after cleansing before going in with any serums/moisturisers. It's strangely thick in consistency and feels soothing on the skin and sinks in right away!

Face - Sensitive Skin SPF

The best way to fight of signs of ageing? Sun cream! I forever forget how important it is to have some form of sun protection on our skin every single day (yes even when it isn't sunny). UV rays are always there and always harmful to the skin, so this handy little product has taken residence in my handbag! It's again super lightweight so sits really nicely under make-up!

Moor Cream Cleanser - Omorovicza

I may or may not have got too busy using this product to remember to photograph it, OOPS! New to Omorovicza, Moor Mud detoxifies skin to cleanse and purify leaving it feeling so fresh and tingly! My favourite part about this product is that it regulates the production of sebum, perfect for those with oily skin. It's great for a second cleanse and leaves my face squeaky clean.

Korebeauty Hydrogel Facial Mask

Okay so I ripped this open the minute my hungover self received it last weekend and again forgot to photograph it, the worst beauty blogger ever right? But this gel mask may have been my favourite part of the whole package! With a collagen boost and intense moisture hit it restored my tired and dull skin instantly and felt SO relaxing, I could of kept it on all day long!

This months edit may have been my favourite yet and I can't wait to see the difference these radiance revealing products make to my skin over the upcoming weeks! You can sign up to Love Me Beauty here!

So Fragrance Body Mist Review

What a blast from the past right?

So fragrance was my go to at 14, their aerosol sprays were a firm favourite in my bag and since those kind of sprays fizzled out a few years ago, So Fragrance are back with these beauties.

My Instagram has been jam packed with cute flat lays featuring their new body mists, so of course I had to get my hands on them too. With a good variety of floral, fruity and sweet they are a perfect addition to your everyday routine, so put the expensive perfumes down and spritz one of these purse friendly options instead.

I went for Vanilla Milkshake and Watermelon, because overly sweet scents are just my thing and I'm not even sorry about it.

Vanilla Milkshake does not disappoint, it's a soft and creamy scent that has real longevity for a body mist and smells good enough to eat! I have gotten so many compliments on this one and think it's the perfect fragrance for everyday.

Watermelon is more fruity and I think it's so lovely for the upcoming seasons. Whilst Vanilla Milkshake is super sweet, this one is fresh and light but just as gorgeous. It's not overly strong on the Watermelon front and the after scent is actually quite floral, however I still love it and the small and light bottle is so easy to throw in to my bag and have to hand all day for a top up!

Have you tried these yet?

Gym Tips

Okay so I'm absolutely no expert, this is just one girl trying to get fit and healthy to another.

I've gotten my mojo back recently and it feels good.

Getting the initial motivation to get up and go can be tough, but once you're back into a gym stride, nothing feels better. Speaking from experience, I know that it can be an intimidating place. Packed with toned gym bunnies who look like they know exactly what they're doing and will enjoy sniggering at your attempt to use that weight machine that looks like it might rip your arms right off. Now i'm about three years into being a regular gym goer (albeit a few gym changes and breaks in between), so let me assure you that the gym is probably one of the least judgemental places you can go.

Everyone there has something in common, a goal.

Whether that to be healthy, get toned, lose weight or just counteract that dominoes pizza they ate last night, their priority when they step through the doors is themselves and their own journey. So if you ever see anyone taking time out of their workout to concern themselves with what you're doing, they're doing life wrong.

All that being said, I wanted to share with you some tips for the gym, that I've picked up along the way and still learn each gym session.

First up, preparation is key.

Nothing kills your workout like standing around deciding what to do. Plan, plan plan. I like to pick a body area to focus on each day and then plan a HIIT style circuit workout around that. If you're a gym newbie, Pinterest is amazing for this. Simply search for something like 'arm workout' and you'll have a full routine to get through in a quick 30 minutes, which will leave you feeling throughly pumped for the day. I take to the cross trainer for a 15-20 minute warm up each morning before I go for a circuit.

Try a class.

Gym classes are perfect for a new gym goer or even a regular. Not only are they lead by trainers that know exactly what they're doing, they can teach you new moves and workouts that you then use yourself, at the gym or even at home. As i've just switched gyms again I haven't been to a class in a while, but when I get back into them, spin will be my favourite to burn off those cheat meals from the weekend!

Don't be scared to try new things.

There is some questionable looking equipment that still looks daunting to me, but we all start somewhere and giving everything a good go is so important. If there's something that you want to try just go for it, perhaps hover on a treadmill nearby and watch other people use it first so that you know how it works. Even the most experienced users have started from square one and you won't know until if you like it until you give it a go!

Eat light and keep hydrated.

This may be trial and error and a case of seeing what works for you, but I cannot workout on a full stomach. It gives me stitch and generally just slows me down. Therefore I opt for a banana or quite often some fasted cardio and eat within 30 minutes after. That period after the gym is essential breakfast/lunch/dinner time because you still burn calories within that time. So get your workout done and eat your porridge after. Of course throughout that whole time, DRINK WATER.

Finally, remember it's your very personal journey and it can be however you want it to be, what's so great about the gym these days it that people are trying new things and enjoying sharing new ways to use weights and equipment that have never been done before.

There is no right or wrong way to do it, there's no limit to how long or short your workout has to be and there's no set amount of days you need to dedicate. Find your flow and roll with it.

Natural Beauty, What I Use And How

Last year was the year that I really got into natural beauty.

I turned a corner with my beauty and fitness, wanting it to be less quick fixes and more permanent feel good health. The same applied to my beauty routine. I wanted to actually repair my hair and nourish my skin, not just cover up blemishes and temporarily seal those pesky split ends.

Natural oils have become my favourite things to reach for, for a variety of things in and out of the kitchen. 100% natural oils to be precise, that can do no harm in my eyes. You will all of heard how great coconut oil is for your skin, hair and body, but how many of you actually put it to practice outside of cooking?

On that note, lets start with Coconut Oil. I've professed my love for the stuff time and time again, it's a god send for me, one that I now could not live without. I always opt for 100% Organic Raw Coconut Oil, options that are not 100% Organic can block pores so steer clear!

I use Coconut oil to remove my make-up every single day. It melts away eye make-up with ease and is so gentle compare to some drugstore options. It leaves my skin so soft and to most peoples surprise, very clean with no greasy residue!

I reach again for this when I am stepping out of the shower. As far as fancy body oils and creams go, this natural choice trumps them all. Massaged into damp skin it sinks right in, leaving skin radiant and nourished, plus it's great for clearing scars and stretch marks! You can also mix with some brown sugar or ground coffee for a body scrub that will buff away dry patches and old fake tan with ease.

Next up Castor Oil.
This is my hairs saviour. Having used Coconut oil on my hair for many years now, I decided to switch things up and upon some research Castor seems to be number one oil for hair growth and repair. Right up my street.  This Naissance Pure Pressed Castor Oil is also vegan friendly.

Albeit this one is very thick in texture and takes some getting used to, but even on my fine hair it washes away with ease and doesn't leave hair weighed down. I apply this to my roots and ends and leave overnight twice a week, as well as coating my eye lashes and eyebrows.

It leaves my hair unbelievable shiny and manageable, improving its appearance and texture. It helps to restore Keratin in your hair helping it to gain its strength and elasticity back!  Winner!

Do you use any natural oils? If so, which ones!

My Favourite Budget Fragrance

We all know that feeling of not wanting to waste expensive perfumes on mundane everyday tasks.

Do I really want to use valuable drops of my £70 spritz on a food shop at Asda? Hell no, but I definitely can't leave the house without a spray of something. Introducing New Look fragrances, easy on your bank balance and even easier on your nose. I tried a couple of them,(all lovely and worth a trip to your local New Look for) before making the decision that this was my favourite and at a teeny tiny £8.99 for 50ml you absolutely cannot go wrong.

Blush is the perfect everyday scent, fresh notes of Rose, Jasmine and Patchouli, it's delicate but still has enough substance to really last the day.

A little really does go a long way and I find that I can still enjoy its fragrance hours after application. The bottle is adorable and easy to throw into your bag so that you can top up throughout the day and I love the squared top with silver detailing.

Oh and did I mention its a crazy close dupe for Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle?

It's a no brainer.

Current Skin Saviours

We all have a selection of wonder products we turn to when we're having a 'bad skin day'.

I have two. Two saviour products that help my skin out when it needs it the most. Surprisingly my recent choices are purse friendly and i've become obsessed with them. My picks are both harsh and soothing, making them the perfect pair for troublesome skin.  It's so important to find products that really work for you, products that not only compliment your skin but also each other.

The winter can be a deal breaker for your face,  being both cold and drying. For me, I still need to reach for products that pack a punch in the oil banishing department, because no matter the season, my t-zone remains as oily as ever. This means that I need to counteract the tough with the gentle. Which brings me onto my favourites for this time of year.

This mask has become quite hard to get a hold of, Boots having now discontinued it. I did however find it here at Tesco, so I decided I would go ahead and review it anyway as I have only recently fell in love with it. Packed with calming ingredients such as Oatmeal, Aloe Vera and Camomile it claims to soothe, heal and reduce any redness and skin irritation that the harsh weather conditions may have caused.

I find that this mask helps to sooth any blemishes that I have after just one use, drastically toning down any swelling and redness leaving my skin soft and comfortable.

I must admit that I have read some particularly bad reviews about this product, claiming that it does not do what it says on the tin and hasn't soothed the skin at all. I however love it and find that it works really well with my skin type. My conclusion is that it probably isn't to be used if you have dry and super sensitive skin, but is the perfect companion to those with oily, blemish prone skin, as it works really well in conjunction with the drying products we may use to tackle breakouts.

Now these, are my favourites. The only negative is that I waited this long to try them.

These handy pads are saturated with Glycolic, Salicylic and Lactic Acid and are targeted at oily and congested skin.

They exfoliate away dead skin revealing your clearest and brightest skin and oh boy do they work.  I reach for these every other night, usually after I have used the Quick Fix mask, wiping them gently over my face, avoiding the eye area. They make my skin feel so clean and instantly brighter and they are perfect to use before a facial oil.

I found that these pads completely changed the texture of my skin, fighting away any pesky under the skin bumps and dry patches leaving it smooth and glowing.

The handy tub and already soaked pads make for easy use and transport!

My Go To Hair Masks

I have said many times that hair care is my obsession.

Years of over styling, over colouring and mis treatment, meant that my hair was left in somewhat of a state. Luckily the end result was not beyond repair and just needed a little TLC. So thats exactly what I set out to give it and the past few years have been dedicated to getting my hair back long, strong and healthy.  If theres one thing I cannot go a week without, it's a hair mask. Even though I don't use heat a lot on my hair, simple things like a tight topknot for the gym each morning can lead to weak hair that is prone to snapping, so a blast of moisture once a week is a must.

My three favourites are as follows:

Redken hit the nail on the head with their entire Extreme Lengths range and although a little pricey, it's worth parting with your money for.

This particular product is designed to prevent and repair split ends, strengthen the hair and promote new hair growth.

Applied to damp hair after shampooing and left for a few minutes it gets to work with ingredients such as Biotin, known for its hair repairing properties.

I found that this is the best mask for dry, coarse ends.  We all know that the only way to rid yourself permanently of split ends it by getting a good chop. But if like me, you pine for long locks, a trip to the hairdressers to rid yourself of a few inches you've worked damn hard to grow is less than appealing.

The appearance of my hair improves with each use of this and it leaves even the ends of my hair smooth and shiny. The product is also super lightweight meaning that it won't leave even the finest of hair greasy or weighed down.

It also comes with a handy pump so it's easy to transport to the gym for an extra special hair mask in the steam room.

Okay, so I've definitely raved about this product before, but believe me it deserves the praise. The Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment works to nourish your scalp and strengthen the hair shaft and is just one product out of his hair growth range. Although all of the products (all of which I have tried) are amazing, this is my favourite by a mile.

Applied, again after shampooing to damp hair, it instructs you to massage the product into your scalp and through the ends of the hair and let it work it's magic for a few minutes.

The smell to name one of its qualities is so gorgeous and does leave a slight fragrance (depending on your choice of conditioner)

This mask is the best for hair growth. I was always skeptical about whether hair growth products ever actually worked, but also too curious to not try every single one I laid my eyes on. So in a jumble of a whole load of 'meh' products this one is what I stuck with and will always have in my collection.

This product is again lightweight, in fact so much so that Lee Stafford recommends that you use this every wash until you see an improvement in your hairs condition.

It washes out completely and again gives my hair and scalp some much needed moisture.

You may have seen this beauty floating around the likes of Facebook with beauty reps posting before and after pictures so drastic the pessimist in you simply scrolls past, but this is my all time favourite at the minute. It's thick and is the perfect product for dry hair that is in desperate need of some love.

This mask is the best for overall hair health and shine.

Featuring CS7 an innovative cuticle smoothing agent it hydrates the hair and triples it's strength, leaving it so soft and shiny for up to 7 days! I reach for this mask when I want a real pamper, washing and towel drying my hair before coating it thoroughly with this product and leaving it for around 30 minutes.  As I don't like to overly style my hair during the week, it can sometimes be left looking a little lack lustre, this mask adds life back in to each strand and makes my brown locks shine!

It smells incredible and works miracles on dry over treated hair.
