Hi Lovelies! I realised that I've been neglecting skincare on this blog so today I'm gon' put a stop to that. I've mentioned before in some of my posts that I struggled with acne after a bad reaction to Whey Protein a few years ago (or so I believe, if you didn't know Whey Protein Concentrate is actually the by-product of cheese so not always that great for the ol' skin), so I'm always cautious with skincare. Even after being blemish free for nearly two years now, it still kinda haunts me and I forever worry that the appearance of one singular spot is the beginning of another epic skin battle... just briefing you on where I'm up to skin wise.

Anywaaaayyy I recently had one of those months where you run out of everything at once and this happened with my everyday skincare. I wanted to try some new products that were more suited to warmer weather and would keep my skin in check over the summer so off to Boot's I plodded.

The first thing I wanted was a new cleanser. I use the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm, and I love it for taking my make-up off and essentially 'taking the day off' as it really does the job, however it doesn't leave my fresh feeling particularly fresh and squeaky clean, which after a long day at work is something I really want. That said this Burt's Bees Deep Cleansing Cream sounded like the one for me. This promises to give your skin a pore clearing cleanse without being too harsh for everyday use. I reaaaaallly like this, it smells like refreshers (weirdly) and leaves your skin tingling and fresh. I would however warn you about using too near to your eyes, ouch.

The next thing I grabbed was the La Roche Posay Serozinc Spray to replace my much loved Pixi Glow Tonic, which is absolutely fabulous by the way, but this month is a 'probably going to have to smash my clay piggy bank for petrol' kinda month, so I don't have £18 spare for a face toner.

This blue bottled spray is everywheeeree and £10 cheaper that the Pixi Tonic so I had to try it. The promise of a refreshing facial spray that is great for keeping blemishes (and mini meltdowns) at bay, whilst toning and mattifying the skin had me just about sold. My skin gets super oily in the summer around my T-zone so this girl needs some mattifying May through to September. Having used this for the past two weeks I get the hype. First off it's SO refreshing to use and sinks into the skin quickly meaning less time prepping the face, more time blending my contour. Secondly it's tackled any pesky under skin bumps before they even had chance to surface and give me anxiety and as far as the oiliness goes, there is noticeably less of a shine to my face. Overall a thumbs up from me.

Last but certainly not least, I went in knowing that I wanted to pick up some Bio Oil. I've said it 9 billion times and I am gon' say it again, I LOVE A GOOD BODY OIL. Moisturiser doesn't cut it anymore. There I said it. Get your body creams and butters away from me. I'm weird because I don't even mind it when they're greasy. I love how healthy they make your skin look and with daily use my skin has never been softer. I had nearly ran out of the Pure Almond Oil I had been using so I thought I'd up my oil game and go for the big guns with Bio Oil. As you should know Bio Oil is great for scarring, stretch marks and dehydrated skin containing the break through PurCellin Oil which is great for adding heaps of moisture. It has a whole host of amazing ingredients such as Chamomile and Rosemary Oil and it just feels amazing on the skin.

I apply this straight after the shower whilst my skin is still wet, which lets it sink right in without any major greasiness. I have a few stretch marks as I was a tinyyyyy child (my family nickname was dot) and then quite literally over night shot up to the nearly 5ft7 that I am today and have been since I was about 13. That amount of growing was never going to be scar free lets be honest, so I am definitely excited to see if it makes any drastic changes.

Do you use any of these products?

x

  3. I got the Serozinc a few months ago and I am obsessed with it! I also love the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Matte Moisturiser, both have become staples in my skincare routine.

  4. I love the Pixi Glow Tonic and Serozinc but i personally feel they are such different products! The PGT has glycolic acid which helps exfoliates the skin and treats fine lines, acne and dullness while Serozinc is just a spray toner which helps with oiliness. I love them both! But if you want a toner that will give you the same effect as PGT look for something with AHA's like glycolic acid!! Its so good for the skin :) Love your blog btw!

  5. Really interesting what you said about Whey Protein, I have a lot of allergies and skin reactions myself, they suck! I have used Bio Oil in the past, definitely need to get back onto that, I remember it being so hydrating.

  8. I've been using Bio-oil for so long as a moisturiser and although I don't have any scarring or stretch marks I love how moisturising this is and it's definitely not as greasy as other body oils!x
